Our skin is naturally covered with bacteria. Body odor happens when the bacteria on your skin comes in contact with sweat.

The unpleasant smell is caused when these bacteria break down proteins and fatty acids in the sweat, causing body odor in the process.

Body Odor Prevention

Some ways to fight body odor:

• Take a bath or shower every day.

• Wash your clothes regularly.

• Avoid synthetic clothing. Natural fibers allow your skin to breathe.

• Keep your underarms DRY. Bacteria have a hard time breeding in dry areas of the body. Shaving your underarms regularly will also help prevent the accumulation of bacteria and can reduce sweat and odor.

                                 BUT BEWARE

• Avoid Antiperspirants as many of them contain Aluminium products which block pores and can be carcinogenic. Perspiration is a natural process. Sweat itself does not smell; it's the combination with the bacteria on your skin that causes the smell.

• Pores blocked by these Aluminium salts prevent the release of toxins, that remain trapped in the tissue close to lymph nodes and breast tissue.

• Aluminum salts dry out sweat by  clogging the pores, and this  can also lead to darkening of the underarms, which can be very unsightly when wearing those sleeveless tops.

• Regular deodorants don't usually contain Aluminium. Instead, they use strong perfumes to cover up the odour which is why, after a few hours, you get that awful deo-sweaty smell in your precious pits.
