Manuka honey is antibacterial. Jarrah honey is antimicrobial. While Manuka honey has been known to have antimicrobial properties, it’s at a much lower level than Jarrah honey.

The Jarrah Honey Story
Jarrah Honey is a mono-floral honey derived from the Australian Jarrah tree (Eucalyptus marginata).
The bioactivity levels in Jarrah honey occur through the enzyme known as glucose oxidase, which produces low concentrations of hydrogen peroxide (the source of antibacterial activity). Hydrogen Peroxide can kill Bacteria and Viruses. Jarrah Honey has the ability to produce some of the highest levels of hydrogen peroxide while still maintaining that great honey taste.
Jarrah honey is rare and hard to obtain, as the trees only produce the necessary flowers once every 2-3 years. The trees themselves are enormous, growing up to 40m high, and can get to 1,000 years old. Western Australia is considered to be one of the last disease and pest-free environments in the world. This is why honey from Western Australia is considered to be so natural and pure.

Jarrah honey on average has around twice the antimicrobial properties compared with Manuka and its antimicrobial property is measured in Total Activity (TA)

Total Activity is similar to UMF, but it comes from slightly different chemical processes. And as well as measuring antimicrobial activity from hydrogen peroxide, it also measures antimicrobial activity from other mechanisms.

Jarrah is unusual in that it does not solidify, like other honeys. This is because of its very low water content. It also flows nicely so is great to drizzle on cereals and pancakes.

Was delighted with this purchase, first of all the packaging was really rustic, there was a beautiful, tiny gold coloured teaspoon with which to delve into the delicious liquid gold honey 🍯, something Whinnie the Poo would have been ecstatic to get his little paws 🐾 into.
It really does taste delicious, and I would definitely recommend, not just for taste, but also the powerful, potent healing properties that these types of honey's have, highest UMF rating I've come across so far, and affordable due to offers and compared to the likes of Holland and Barrett's Manuka Honeys that can be extortionate even with sales on.
I will definitely be buying again in the future.
